Dr Gemma Weafer

 

I am an Educational and Child Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).  I am chartered psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS). I finished my Doctorate in Educational and Child Psychology (DECPSy) at University College London (UCL) in 2012. I have been working as an Educational Psychologist  for a Local Authority in the South East of England for 10 years. 

 

I have specialist interest in Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD). I have been part of multi-disciplinary diagnostic assessment team with Community Paediatricians and Speech and Language Therapists for children who have complex social communication difficulties. 

 

My Doctoral research investigated the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioural Interventions in treating anxiety in adolescents with ASD.  Following my Doctoral research I developed a specialist interest in the use of Cognitive Behavioural Interventions (CBI) for children and young people experiencing emotional difficulties. I went on to complete a Post Graduate Certificate in 2013 at University College London in 'Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for children  and Young People'.  

 

I am working towards Level 3 qualification in Video Interaction Guidance (VIG).VIG is a therapeutic intervention which aims to enhance communication within relationships.

 

I have also completed a certificate of competence in 'Developing Educational Psychology Practice for 16-25 year olds'.  

 

 

 

Dr Colm Lonergan

 

I am an Educational and Child Psychologist and am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I am chartered psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS). I completed my Doctorate in Professional Educational, Child and Adolescent Psychology (DEdPsy) at the Institute of Education, University College London (IOE) in 2010. I have been working as a full time Local Authority Educational and Child Psychologist in the south east of England for 12 years, now working part time.

 

I have specialist interest in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). I have extensive experience in supporting and assessing children to find the best way forward to meet their individual educational needs. I have been part of multi-disciplinary diagnostic assessment team with Community Paediatricians and Speech and Language Therapists (SALT) for children who have complex social communication difficulties.

 

I have provided training to 30 Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators on a monthly basis focusing on Special Educational Needs (SEN) e.g. ADHD management, dyscalculia, dyslexia, English as an Additional Language (EAL) and SENCO leadership and management. Training SENCO's assists them to develop targeted interventions in school.

I am also a School Governor at St. Mary Cray Primary Academy, in Orpington, Kent.

Associates

 

A number of fully qualified HCPC registered Educational Psychologists (EPs) work with FSP. A greater number of EP's helps to ensure flexibility to meet your needs. Having a number of highly skilled EPs working with FSP  helps to ensure continuity of service.
